Onsite Level 2 First Aid for Youth Mental Health
1 Day (6 Hours)

This course is suitable for anyone who actively supports or works with children and young people, including parents, carers, teachers, youth leaders, and young adults.

The qualification is designed with young people in mind and covers key areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders, bullying, stress, and the impact of drugs and alcohol. Learners will develop the knowledge and skills to:

  • Recognise potential mental health conditions

  • Start supportive conversations

  • Provide initial guidance and signpost to professional help

Please note: learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals.

  • First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health

Certification
Learners who successfully complete the assessment will be awarded the Level 2 Award (SCQF Level 5 in Scotland) in First Aid for Youth Mental Health. The qualification is valid for 3 years, after which the full course must be retaken to requalify.

Assessment

  • Written assessment

  • Practical demonstration of the First Aid Action Plan for Mental Health
    Learners must pass both parts to receive certification.
