Course Overview
The Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) course is a one-day course designed for those caring for infants and children. It provides essential practical skills to respond confidently to common paediatric emergencies.
If EYFS and Ofsted requirements need to be met, you will require the full two-day Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course instead.
Who Can Attend?
Nannies, babysitters and childminding assistants
Nursery, preschool and after-school staff
Sports and activity coaches
Foster carers
Parents, guardians and grandparents
Anyone responsible for the welfare of children
No prior first aid knowledge is required.

Emergency Scene Management and Casualty Assessment
Infant and Child CPR + AED
Choking in Babies and Children
Recovery Position
Bleeding, Wounds, Burns and Shock
Seizures and Febrile Convulsions
Anaphylaxis and Allergic Reactions
Common Childhood Injuries
First Aid Kits and Accident Reporting
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will:
Assess and respond appropriately to paediatric emergencies.
Perform CPR and safely use an AED on infants and children.
Recognise and manage common childhood emergencies and injuries.
Develop the confidence to provide effective emergency first aid.
Assessment and Certification
Continuous practical assessment throughout the course
Successful candidates receive an accredited Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years
