Level 2 Principles and Practices of
Manual Handling Techniques - 1 Day

We are all exposed at times to some form of manual handling such as lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing.

Injuries caused by poor manual handling techniques account for over one million working days lost each year in the UK, alongside significant pain and suffering for those affected.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recognises manual handling as a key workplace risk and requires employers to provide employees with training and information to reduce injury risks and promote safe practices.

This course provides a practical and effective approach to safer manual handling, meeting HSE recommendations and helping promote good practice across a wide range of workplace settings.

Topics Covered:
Learners will gain knowledge and skills to:

  • Understand the importance of safe manual handling

  • Recognise how risk assessments improve workplace health and safety

  • Learn the principles of safe manual handling

  • Identify types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety

  • Apply safe manual handling principles in practice

Certification
Assessment is carried out through ongoing practical observation by the instructor, supported by a written test.

This qualification does not have an expiry date, but refresher training is strongly recommended to keep knowledge and practice up to date with policies and procedures.
